James O’Brien

James is a critical thinker with a big-picture mindset yet an eye for detail. With seven years of experience in corporate finance and analysis prior to joining Ascendient in 2019, he most recently served as a Finance Manager guiding clinical trial projects and functional financial due diligence in Washington, DC.

At Ascendient, James works with clients and team members to create the financial and operational analysis that supports the client’s CON story to help align the right resources with the right patients. He enjoys hearing the firsthand accounts of clients and their patient-facing experiences, then leveraging data-driven insights to guide the solutions and improvements that lead to CON approval, ultimately bringing additional resources to meet community needs.

When he's not working remotely in Central Virginia, James enjoys gym classes and hot yoga after work, as well as trips to South America, among other places.
