Paul Riker is a writer on Ascendient’s Regulatory team, and is responsible for the drafting, editing, and creation of documents pertaining to the Certificate of Need (CON) and Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) process. With a background in both healthcare and writing, Paul’s favorite part of his work is the writing itself – finding creative and innovative ways to argue for improved healthcare access while ensuring that Ascendient’s clients acquire the resources that they need to provide the utmost in sustainable, quality care for their patients.

Prior to his time at Ascendient, Paul worked as a healthcare consultant in Chicago, acting as a business analyst and product owner for IT transformation projects in retail pharmacy and pharmacy benefits management. While earning his Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing, he also taught English and Composition at Purdue University.

As his background would suggest, Paul enjoys reading and writing. He also does his best to spend as much time exploring the natural splendor of Western North Carolina, where he lives with his wife.
